Tampa Airport Parking
The official rates without the stale copies floating around Google, the off-site lots at a quarter of the price, and the free lot everyone forgets.
Tampa International runs three garages and a free waiting lot, all first hour free, all with a 45-day limit. The garages are excellent and never cheap: past a few days, the hotel and operator lots around Westshore undercut them hard, shuttle included. Below: the official rates as posted on the airport's own page, the off-site lots worth the shuttle ride, and the details (the online discount, the cell phone lot, the height limits) that the rate signs do not explain.
How much is official TPA parking?
| Option | To the terminal | Rate | Daily max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy Parking tampaairport.com · verified 2026-08-26 | SkyConnect train, about 12 minutes door to door | First hour free, then $5/hr | $22 |
| Long Term Garage tampaairport.com · verified 2026-08-26 | Level 4 moving walkway, about a 5-minute walk | First hour free, then $8/hr | $26 |
| Short Term Garage tampaairport.com · verified 2026-08-26 | Elevators straight down into the terminal | First hour free, then $8/hr | $32 |
| Cell Phone Waiting Lot tampaairport.com · verified 2026-08-26 | Direct access off George J Bean Pkwy; for waiting on a pickup, not for leaving the car | Free | Free |
Maxes are per 24 hours, tax included, 45-day limit, as posted on tampaairport.com/parking; door-to-terminal times are as listed on park.tampaairport.com. Ignore pages quoting $12 economy or $18 onsite; those rates are stale. No valet product is listed as of the verified date.
What does a day actually cost, official vs off-site?
The honest framing: these are from-prices. Each platform sets the real price for your dates at booking, and the same hotel can list at different prices on different platforms. The pattern holds anyway: off-site runs $4 to $10 a day against $22 official, $4 to $8 if you hold out for a shuttle.

What do locals know about parking at TPA?
The cell phone lot is free, and it beats circling arrivals
Picking someone up? The Cell Phone Waiting Lot is a free surface lot with direct access off George J Bean Pkwy, with restrooms and EV charging. Sit there until your person is actually at the curb, then roll to arrivals in a couple of minutes. It is the one airport facility you cannot prebook, because you do not need to.

Economy is 1.2 miles out, but the SkyConnect makes it painless
The Economy Garage sits south of the terminal, connected by the SkyConnect train: runs 24/7, trains roughly every 2 minutes, and the booking engine itself budgets about 12 minutes door to door. Take the elevator to Level 1 of the garage for the station. Know your clearances too: 6 feet 8 inches in Short Term, 7 feet 10 in Long Term, 8 feet in the Economy garage levels, and 13 feet on Economy Level 1 and the surface lot, so tall trucks and roof boxes have exactly one official home.

The $4 off-site lot with no shuttle is not really $4
Several of the cheapest off-site listings the day we checked (Safeway at $5.00, Extended Stay America at $3.90, DoubleTree Rocky Point at $4.50) include no shuttle at all: you park and rideshare yourself both ways. Two rideshare hops can eat the entire savings on a short trip. Filter for a free shuttle before you sort by price: the Memorial listing had one, the Godfrey listing includes a shuttle without saying whether it is free, and prices on these platforms move with your dates.

Budget an extra 15 minutes each way for any shuttle lot
Off-site math has a time cost the price tag hides. A1 Express tells customers to arrive 15 minutes early to check in for the shuttle, and every shuttle lot adds a wait plus a ride on both ends of the trip, against a SkyConnect train that shows up about every 2 minutes. On a one or two night trip, the official garages often win on total cost once your time is in the ledger; past three or four days, the off-site discount is too big to ignore.

Prebooking is always cheaper, and it is the only thing that guarantees a space
The airport FAQ is unusually blunt: booking online is "always cheaper" than the gate, and prebooking "guarantees there will be space for you to park in the selected garage" (a space, not a specific spot). In a live test quote for a late-August week, the discount ran 5 to 11 percent: Economy $117.60 prebooked against about $132 at posted gate rates, quote specific to those dates. Cancellation is free more than 24 hours out; inside 24 hours you eat 50 percent. On arrival you scan the emailed QR code at the gate, any lane except the SunPass lane.

On peak days the garages genuinely close
From the airport's own Christmas-week advisory: "TPA's garages may fill up during busy travel times and will close if they reach capacity," and "the only way to guarantee a parking space will be to book a reservation in advance." That advisory is from December 2023, but the guarantee language still sits in the current FAQ, and the logic applies to any day the airport is slammed: Thanksgiving week, the winter holidays, spring break. If your flight leaves on one of those days, prebook or plan on off-site.

Coming from the north? The I-275 exit to the airport moved
The exit from northbound I-275 to TPA has shifted about a half-mile north for FDOT's Westshore Interchange project, and the airport says the shift lasts until Fall 2028, so follow the new signage rather than muscle memory. The airport is also installing new parking equipment in the garage entrance and exit lanes as of late August 2026, with lane closures while the work runs; leave a few extra minutes at the gates.

Where is accessible parking at Tampa International?
Accessible parking at Tampa International is available 24 hours a day in every airport parking area, Short Term, Long Term, and Economy, with disabled spaces on all levels of the garages, usually adjacent to the elevators (airport parking and accessibility pages, verified 2026-08-27). Standard rates apply unless the vehicle qualifies for free parking under Florida law, covered below.
Every garage has accessible spaces, on all levels, next to the elevators
The airport's parking page states that disabled parking is provided on all levels of all parking garages and adjacent to the elevators in the Economy Parking Garage, and its Accessibility Services page says to follow the standard signage symbols to the designated spaces, commonly located adjacent to nearby elevators. From the Economy garage, follow signs to the elevators for SkyConnect access to the terminal. Push-button emergency and assistance phones sit at the elevator lobbies throughout the parking facilities.

Who parks free under Florida law (a standard placard alone does not)
Standard rates apply to disabled parking, with the exception the airport spells out: in accordance with Section 316.1964 of the Florida Statutes, parking is free for vehicles equipped with ramps, lifts, or foot or hand controls, vehicles displaying a State of Florida Toll Exemption Permit, and vehicles with a disabled veterans (DV) license plate. The 45-day maximum stay still applies. Height matters too: the Short Term garage takes vehicles to 6 feet 8 inches and Long Term to 7 feet 10; for taller vehicles with specialized equipment, the airport says to call the parking office at (813) 870-8791 for instructions.

Per 24 hours, tax included: Economy $22, Long Term $26, Short Term $32, with the first hour free in every garage. Hourly rates are $5/hr in Economy and $8/hr in the other two. Booking online is always cheaper than the gate, per the airport itself.

Does TPA have valet parking?
Not that we can find as of August 2026: the airport's parking page lists no valet product and no valet rate. The FAQ still mentions a valet height limit, so if valet matters to you, ask the parking operator at (813) 870-8791 rather than trusting a third-party page quoting a valet price.
What is the cheapest long-term parking near TPA?
Off-site hotel and operator lots. On the day we checked, listed rates ran about $4 to $10 per day within a few miles of the airport, against $22 per day at the official Economy Garage. Filter for a free shuttle before you sort by price, and remember the listed price is a from-price for your specific dates.
How long can I leave my car at the airport?
45 days maximum at any TPA facility, and 45 days is also the longest booking the online system accepts. Longer than that without contact and the airport may impound the car.
